Everyone scream out loud 'cause CHINESE NEW YEAR is here!!!!
That's right Chinese New Year is coming. Many Chinese believed a Chinese New Year legend. The legend is that people should not sweep the floors during Chinese New Year as they would sweep away the good luck.
Many people believed that the word 'Nian', which in Chinese means "year", was originally the name of a monster beast that started to prey on people the night before the beginning of a new year. It was said that the beast was scared of noise, fire and the colour red. In order to prevent 'Nian' of eating them, the people decorated their house with red papers, the parents would give their children red envelopes to be placed under their pillows to protect them, and they also explode firecrackers on the New Year eve until the morning of the new year to scare the Nian away.
I wish everyone a happy new year!
